I'm a composer with 7 years of MIDI composition experience, working professionally in the indie game industry. I would love to learn about your project and create the soundtrack. Rates: $15/hour or $50/track, depending on the size of the project. For samples of my work, check out my website at www.2eastmusic.com. Influences include: Final Fantasy, The Legend Of Zelda, Castlevania, Dragon Quest, Star Fox, and many more.
Now, when you say "loosely influenced," you really mean that you just used the same melody, right? I mean, if anything says "substantially similar," it's this music.

Anyways, a decent variety of work. I can't tell if the quality (EQ, mainly) problem is due to the original files or the mp3s, though. I do like the music! The biggest problem, though, is the midi-sounding instruments.

No, that would be plagarism. To me, "loosely influenced" means emulating the style or mood from a game scene, but using original all original tracks.

Glad you like the music! If you check out samples like "Galactic Graveyard" you can hear what I've done to upgrade the quality of the sounds. Right now I'm getting a demand for midi, and don't have the time to tweak the sounds for the purposes of displaying on the website. I really should though, because it would make my stuff more marketable.

Thanks for your support!
Oh, wow! That makes much more sense. You might want to make it clear on your website that many of the songs were done like that (err, MIDI, that is).

And Galactic Graveyard is a lot nicer to listen to than some of the more basic MIDI-sounding ones (although the cymbal sound needs some help), and pretty great to listen to, anyways!

(also, got your email, but I wanted to post this part here)

Thanks for the suggestions. I will consider implementing your ideas to improve the quality and clarity of the website. Stay in touch!
