Female gamers
I really like to see more research about female gamers.

It really brought to my attention when I saw a girl is playing Mario Cart on NDS in my English class, and another girl gave out a speech about games in my Public Speaking class. Which make me think that there are female gamers out there, and there are a lot of them.

Yup, you need more information.
How about learning about the Women's Game Conference hosted by the same people behind the Austin Game Conference, Game Writers Confernce, and several other conferences?
Or maybe the Women section of IGDA would be more interesting reading for you.
Perhaps Women In Games International is more your style?
There are many more devoted to both players and creators, but that should be enough links to lead you where you wanted to go.

Microsoft says that about 70 percent of the 9 million users on MSN Games are women. I've also read that industry estimates were that between 20-30% of Everquest players were women, and that the numbers aren't that different. Those numbers don't surprise me that much, I recently visited my parents and found out that a number of my mom's friends play WoW daily.
You also might want to do some research into why The Sims is the top selling PC game series of all time. [wink]

I don't think we need more research into "female" gamers. I don't see that there's any large differences, except for the fact that most males are quite happy with aggressive shoot-em-ups, and most women don't prefer that. There's more on this at IGDA, which was pointed out. As the equality of the sexes evens out in how children are raised, there will be less of a divide than there used to be when I was young.
