Shooter/Reverse Mission: The player can only use a LOT of small, weak ships (and few strong ships occasionally) against a single extremely powerful computer ship or vice versa
Mission Types
---------------Magic is real, unless declared integer.- the collected sayings of Wiz Zumwalt
Ok, let me consolidate everybody's ideas into one Uber list of what we have so far
Single Player (Sapo can take down the Multiplayer stuff):
Attack the Thingy: Simply attack an enemy emplacement (can be time-limited).
Defend the Thingy: Defend your own emplacement from enemy attack.
Escort Something: Keep something of yours from being destroyed by the enemy.
Fleet Action: You and the enemy going at it with no distractions to either destroy the opposing fleet or force a retreat.
Hold Out: Hold out as long as you can either for reinforcement or to inflict maximum damage before being eliminated. Will be complex combat requiring skilled use of tactics to succeed. You must find the enemy fleet on the map.
Reinforce: Find beleaguered allies and destroy their assailants before it’s too late.
Catch the Thingy: Try to catch a vessel for the purposes of destruction or capture, vessel may be fleeing or component in an enemy fleet.
Decoy: Attack with a smaller force to distract enemy fleet.
Run Away!: Get away from the enemy in a limited amount of time or with limiting your losses.
Search: You must recover certain items or other such things while either avoiding the enemy or destroying them; will probably take place in an asteroid field with static defenses.
Clear Area: Destroy all enemies and mines in an area (could be timed)
[EDIT]: Kill the Big Thingy Destroy a special enemy type with more power, probably "Ace" enemy commanders and their flagships
This is great, we're rolling along… Don't worry if your ideas not up there specifically, many of them fit under variations and will probably be used in a mission as a variation of a standard type. There's gonna be a lot of planets to conquer, so even minor differences in design, as in map layout would still be helpful. Oh, and tell me if I forgot anything important.
Thanks guys for being so enthusiastic about this, there's only so much creativity in me, and I blew it on drawing the spaceships and building the game universe. And making up stuff for English homework. I'm beat[grin]
