Hello Before I release my website to the public, I'd like to get some honest feedback by this community. Below are some of my singles. They are basically demos, not belonging to any album or soundtrack. Catacomb - ambient; well-suited for the mood inside a dark cavern Sonata Veloce - classical; means "fast sonata" in Italian Christmas Eve Dream - Christmas rock; some original melodies contained and some well-known classicals Infiltration - funk (somewhat); well-suited for an infiltration scene of an heavy action film. I request that you not yet go to the actual website instead of downloading the listed links directly. It's not quite done yet. I also request that feedback be anything constructive. I don't want to hear that you like it or hate it without telling me why. Croutiques can be anything from composition to mastering. I appreciate any help I receive for the purpose of improving my work. Dr Mean [Edited by - Dr Mean on March 15, 2006 8:16:26 PM]

Thank you for the reply.

I haven't really listened to much of his work. One Winged Angel, and Terra's theme from FF4 (I think) are some of my favorites. But I don't really see how I could be influenced by him. I do take a lot of that style from masters like Koji Kondo though. =)

Yes, I try to do as many styles and genres as I can.

All my drum beats and fills are all custom written, I'm proud to say. No pre-written crap. I'm lucky; it comes easy to me. =D

I would like more people to respond to this topic. I've seen other topics showcasing work get more attention. I think I deserve it as well. The files are quite small, and I'm only looking for some comments and croutiques.

Thanks,
Dr Mean

P.s. This is essentially a bump. >_>

Sorry, I listened to this almost a week ago but had no time to comment.

Catacomb is nice, good syncopation, kept going at a good clip once it got started. Maybe some more dramatic pauses?

The link to Sonata Veloce doesn't seem to work.

Christmas - Bring that guitar up front! It's buried in that mix. Or double up on some rhythm guitar tracks. The solo is fine, however. Real good composition!

Infiltration - Practically screams for some dissonant brass, or even brass hits here and there. Otherwise solid mood, good song!

Catacomb was meant to be for a video game originally. Pauses don't really work well. You need to keep the flow. But now that it's not being used as that, I'll consider the idea.

Sorry, I really thought I was careful about that. It's fixed now.

Which guitar? In the acoustic or electric? I'll assume you're talking about the electric. I actually did double up, but I guess it didn't work =/. So right around 1:24, which is burried, the melody or rhythm? I can't tell anymore, since I've listened too many times.

Thanks. I've been told it's too short. Maybe I'll put some brass pops in there. Maybe even a whole brass melody. That's what Garritan JABB is for anyway. =)

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

That's is what I'm looking for.

Not bad stuff at all. The infiltration was not what I expected it to be. It reminded me quite a bit of something that might be heard from the Ocean's 11 soundtrack. It had a nice vibe for sure but it probably isn't DARING enough. Its a little too smooth and maybe a bit thin texturally. It really would be nice to think about adding some dissonant passages either utilizing a string or horn setup or bringing in some accented off beats with the drums to aid in providing tension.

Its not bad at all though!

Cool stuff man.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to this topic. I changed Infiltration, following some of your advice. I didn't take it in the exact direction you were thinking, perhaps. But it definetely is more tense and daring now, suiting the title. So check the same file again and see what you think.

It's not finished completely. Needs a bit of work to go, especially around the end. I just wanted to show you which way I was heading with this, and see if you approve.

Thanks again,
Doctor

Damn, I'm sorry. I recently rearranged my whole website directory structure. The links are fixed now. Sorry for the trouble again.

If the mods could clear these two previous posts...
