3DS Mesh Object with More Than One Texture in Max Script

Hi all, I am struggling to see how to access which material is used against a specific face in MaxScript. It seems you can get the map face information which can give you the UV information, but I can't see where it tells you what material it is using. A single mesh can have more than one material (ie one face has one material, another face has another), so the information must be somewhere. Anyone have any clue as to where this is? Thanks!
