So ppl anyone have or know''s where I can find a good engine for loading 3d studio files with textures and displaying them?
Yes, try our engine, Tachyon. It is a full 3D visualization engine that can load .3DS files with full texture support. Please give it a try and let us know how you liked it in the forum.

Yepp I shall try thy engine it seams very promising but I also found another program that actually can convert .3DS and .LWO files into plain OpenGL code. So I shalltry them both and see which one will be best for me.

I''d stay away from the pure Opengl converstation stuff... it''s tooo slow ;o). Go for the Engine!...

I am defenitly gonna try this Milkshape tutor (how could I miss it).
The first experiment I did with this converter didnt went to well, in fact it didnt went well at all. This program was some kind of demo version (strange they called it freeware) so you had to pay some money to get the materials, normals and textures along in the convertion ...hum well the part that did work, the vertex exporting, didnt work either so I abondoned the idea.
And this Tachyon engine I didnt get to work at all, probobly because I am using Borland C++ and not MSVC and didnt know how to add the libs correctly or the libs was wrong verions for my compiler. Anyway I am woundering do the DLL files realy need to be 1.6 MB???
So now I gotta go read this milkshape tutor and see what I can do.

Hey! this milkshape program isnt freeware , is there any freeware program to convert from 3dmax -> milkshape ?
Tachyon does require that it be used in an MSVC v6 project. It may be converted to other compilers if there is enough interest.
