Hello, I don''t really knoww much about 3D Graphic internal and there Hardware. But in order to run OpenGL Hardware accelerated under Linux it seems that I have to learn a little bit, in fact I''m willing to learn. I use SuSE Linux 6.2 and it would be great if you can refer to this, but else I will try to convert Information :-) I have a Voodoo3 2000 running on a celeron. I''ve searched the SuSE linux website a little bit and found sth. named DRI. In the Readme I read that I need to compile some new kernel modules. But they don''t write wich modules that are, they only give a ''make'' specification, wich I guess isn''t available under SuSE 6.2. I think for this DRI I need another XFree version (4.xx) but I only have 3.xx. Perhaps I also need a new Kernel or even the new sources. My version is 2.2.10. So it seems not to be a good choice to use DRI because my download rate is not as high (around 10MB are the max I want to download). Is there anyone, who knows another way, perhaps a XServer that could be used to fullfill my task. And if so can he/she (very unlikely!? :-) tell me where I can download it. your problem is called voodoo you don#t need to do anything to make ogl run hardware accelerated it naturally is. You probably need to find a special driver to get your voodoo to work with ogl but the best thing you can do is buying a card that supports ogl like a tnt2 if you can''t afford a geforce

if you want to get ogl acceleration you have two options. If you have a 3.3.x series X server you could get the voodoo drivers for it that. There are some although I have not been able to get any for a while because 3dfx''s linux website is always down. The other option would be to upgrade your X-server to the 4.xx series(preferrably 4.01 or 4.02) and get the dri module for voodoos called tdfx. I would most definitely recommend an update for your kernel. 2.2.18 is great and so far my experience with 2.4 has been just as great.
