Just curious to see what other art talents we have in here. Post up some fun you've had making characters and models of your own. Here are a couple recent ones i've been playing with. My old jetta, miss it sometimes. Almost done. Remember this guy? Sentinal from the matrix Lil icon character i through together
Here are a few things i've done in the past, most of them are just practice. i linked to the pics to make this thread a little more dial-up friendly for others :)
not bad, i'm actually quite jealous :) humans are the only things i can't model (along with other humaniod type models), i've been practicing though, do you know of a good human modeling tutorial?

I'm not even an artist, my man; just a programmer. All it takes is a lot of practice. Helps to use a reference however... preferably a 3D one.
Jarrod1937, humans are easier than would be thought, its really just proportions that are hard, good luck. (oh yeah, I would suggest the joan of arc tutorial for starting out)
Its funny, I saw the title of this thread (who creates characters from scratch?), then the creator's post consisted of 3 works from unoriginal concepts (albeit impressive and good looking work). Just thought I'd point out that small bit of irony.
Not to hijack a thread, but who here creates their own models from their own concepts?
Also, I found modelling humans MUCH easier once I took a figure-drawing course. And learn anatomy. Having the best reference in the world isn't a substitute for knowing bones, muscle groups, etc., what's going on under the skin (as well as proportions).

well did you take a look at my pics? almost all were from my imagination. i guess i'll give humans a try again soon. I really want to be able to model them but each time i try it never turns out too well.
