I'm an rookie indie currently working on a graphics and physics simulation engine. I was wondering, what key concepts should i focus on? what would you look for in a game engine?
Congrats on your first engine project.

I would say the #1 thing is FINISH IT ;)

Other than that, a good, clean look. It doesn't have to have every new feature, but it needs to look neat and well put together.

Well what you put in your engine you need to decide because we don't really know what your goal is. But whatever you do put in to it make sure it runs rock solid.
