Hey I am getting desperate about game developing soon. With 500 SEK (50$) in my wallet I feel like a sucker who can''t afford the cheapest book about the WIN32 Apis... After having bought Lamothes excellent Tips and Tricks eaven though I cannot execute the examples beacause (I confess) a lack of exeprience (good book anyway) I cannot afford another miss. So now the hole in the wallet eaven makes attacks on my OpenGL hobby...3D studio MAX 250$! Great, I can almost afford it. Sometime. In the future. Maybe. I try to learn some MacOs basics (The API or whatever is controlling the whole OS so that you can make windows and stuff) but hey there is neither books or tutorials on this I''m getting desperate... How do you reply to posting like this one? /Sebastian Jensen

I''ve got a web site - http://tannara.2y.net/ - that has basic Windows tutorials as well as some tip & tricks type info. I occasionaly add to it and generally try to answer questions (exspecially about basic stuff) by adding a tutorial to my site. Theres also a message forum that you can post questions on!

There are many tutorials/books/examples on how to use the Macintosh toolbox(to create windows etc)

www.apple.com/developer Look at the sample code, the Inside Macintosh PDF''s and other examples there

Books:
"Tricks of the Mac Game Programming Guru''s" from Hayden Books(i think)
"Macintosh Programming Starter Kit" also from Hayden Books

look on the codewarrior site for more book titles(at the store i believe) www.metrowerks.com

That should set you on the right path...
you have a connection to the net. What else do you need. OpenGL is heavily (and well) documented. Check the links on NeHe''s page and try this link. It lists books available free on the net

I am sure me myself (and others) enjoy the great postings and tips on this messageboard, so keep to good work up pals!

And for Rob: Great site! Bookmarked!

And for _Gumby: Isthe Starter Kit the best way to start? Or is Tricks Of Macintosh The Game Programming Gurus just basic enough.

And RelaityMonster: Yeah! Just thougt this just might be the shortcut to..eh..unleash the overmighty power of the net! I dont only have a internet connection but a super duper fast Cable connection (chello)!!!

Moogle:

Don''t bother with Games of the Mac Game Programming Gurus. It was a great book there years ago, but it doesn''t cover OpenGL or GameSprockets. Its discussion of the theory behind 3-D is quite good, but all that information is available online for free. Most of the other useful stuff in there can be found other places.

Besides, I don''t think it''s in print anymore.

If you find it used for not too much money, buy it - it''s a good book - but just keep in mind that it''s outdated.
