3dsmax - alpha-blended edges
Hi... When rendering a model animation into a sequence of PNG images, the edges of the model are being blended into transparent, as shown (zoomed in in photoshop): http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/6636/rendersample8kr.png How do I make the edges 'hard' so that there isn't this falloff to transparent? Is this a property of the material, or a setting in the renderer? I still want the alpha channel, but I only want the pixels to be alpha tested, either fully opaque or transparent.
i believe its standard to have the edges blended thats how photoshop, gimp and others all make smooth transitions from pixel to other pixels. so i really don't think there's a way to turn it off. and trust me you don't want it to have hard edges as that would result in a very jagged alpha test.

I thought there was a way to turn off edge anti aliasing in the rendering options.
Ah, I found it:
Customize menu > Preferences > Rendering tab
In the "Background" section, check "Don't antialias against background"
That's what I was looking for :) Thanks

so you want that jagged look? making an old style 2d game?

This is important if you're using something like colour keying to blit the relevant parts of a sprite. If you dont turn off the aliasing your sprites will end up with a hue around their edges where they are blended with whatever your colour key value is.
