It would be similar to the standard MMO's but much more to do rather then fighting. Imagine Ultima Online meets Horizons meets Second Life. Where there are several different groups of people who left from one large capital city several centuries before during a cataclysm and have become individual groups with unique atributes.(yeah similar to most MMO's here) So the basic idea of the game is to rebuild the world, with a large range of objects to use, and make. From cutlery to lanterns to wagons and bridges and towers. Large interaction with the NPC's where as you make a town npc's arrive, buy goods from stores, make things and peasants farm the lands, sell them at bazaars or markets. Players can buy lands and hire peasants to work farms, raise animals or man ships and fish. The cities would require management such as having guards patrol, and either a player setting the gaurds patrol area's or having it set automaticly. Which is how I would see most of the functions in game, if no player opts to fill the spot then a global and regional AI would take over to make the game world alive. And with places like Inns and Taverns needed since players need to log out in a safe place, seeing your avatar doesn't disappear when you log out, owning houses and Inns will be very wise. If you only decide to take a skill and use it rather then start a business you can mine, chop wook own a wagon and haul materials, or buy a ship and people would pay you for passage. And if someone wants they can contract you to supply them items. So if you are a miner you can contract to a smithy or forge to supply raw materials. Yes there would still be fighting, you must protect your towns and kingdoms from bandits, pirates, and your neighbors. Yes it is only a dream of mine, but hey there are alot of those here. This is a type of game I am currently making a Design Doc for. With next gen game engines for graphics, physics, lighting, AI, and object and world manipulation it would hopefully be like stepping into a book and living a story. Idea's, thoughts or suggestions are always welcome.
