I''ve just dabbled with the tutorials and had a bit of fun but the problem is they don''t go into much detail. Can somebody recommend a good book to learn openGL from. thanks p.s. I''m only a very new programmer
I highly recommend the OpenGL Red book (link to online version on Nehe''s frontpage, search Amazon.com for print book) along with the OpenGL Blue book. The Red book explains everything you need to know about OpenGL and is beginner to advanced in scope.

The Blue book is a reference book, contains detail descriptions of every OpenGL command.

Together they are great for learning OpenGL.

The OpenGL Superbible (2nd edition) is sort of like the Red Book and the Blue Book together. It has tutorial chapters (like the Red Book) and then a reference of functions used at the end of each chapter (like the Blue Book). I''ve used all three, and I would recommend the Superbible if you want to buy one book to save some cash, but the Red/Blue combination will go more in depth.

thanks
I''ll probably end up buying the red and blue books
don''t buy the books when they''re online for free. if you do buy a book though, I would recomend The OpenGL Superbible.

I totally agree... I have half the books I have in print on my computer... but I find it too difficult to read from my monitor.
I did a search on Amazon and Barns and noble but i found no Blue Book i found only Red Book. I searched chapsters which is quite similar to bn.com and amazon.com but i still found no red book maybe i didn''t look hard enough in chapters, but who cares anyway i''m not located in canada nor any of the other countries where chapters is so i can''t get the book if i find it. I did find the Superbible though which seems like it maybe be a good resource for a newbie like me so i end up buying that mostlikely.
