I am a c++ programmer and can't get anyone to help me make some stuff so i guess i will have to do it myself. i have herd stuff about 3d max and was wondering what software is the best for -making 3d worlds -making 3d charaters (with animations with moves and weapons) thanks for looking
Ultimate_Fusion,
You seem to be frustrated and in need of help. I reviewed your post history and I have not been able to see where you
For instance, in this post you state that you are a programmer and ask what software is best to make 3d worlds. Are you looking for models, 2d renders/sprites, textured models in animation? And then the same about the characters.
If you could give some specific requirements you would get a better response. When you use terms like "worlds" it gets pretty generic. Please give us more information so we can help. It would help to know what you need the models to do or what you plan on making. Again, don't take this for anything but constructive criticism from someone who is willing to help.

Quote:. In the replies you recieved in other posts people offered limited solutions based on the limited information you gave them. They also asked for more details so they could help you better. Don't take this the wrong way but if you hope to convice people to give assistance, you must be willing to give them some details.

There's alot of software around so it all depends on what your confortable with and what your willing to spend. Checkout 3D & 2D Software Information at the top if the Visual Arts forum, you'll find a large list of software available. Blender, Maya, 3DSMax, and i think Rhino3D all have texturing/modeling/animation features. Admittedly i don't know much about map-making, i haven't had the time or need to look into it much, though i think you could try Worldcraft.

Hey Ultimate_Fusion,
I'm just like you, I have just started with 3D stuff, and I want to make my own models and levels, etc...
For my (outdoor) levels, I have just purchased A.L.E, as it is very simple but still very effective. Also, it is fairly inexpensive.
I make my models and UV map them in Blender. I then export them to .obj and import them to Milkshape 3D. If I don't need to animate them, I then export straight to DirectX. If they do need to be animated, I create and place the bones in Milkshape, then export to Milkshape ASCII. I then import this file into CharacterFX, and animate the model. Then I get it back into Milkshape and export.
Hope this helps.
