Sometimes I wished linux people would shut up....
Most smug, arrogant people you will ever meet are those who hate micrsoft and love linux.
People if linux was better more than %2 of the world would use it.
Give it some time. They will take over the world soon enough.
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other player's eyes with his King.
You could say this a bit nicer...
I agree that most people that use Linux love their OS and don''t see how much it sucks in terms of UI. I think Win2k has all the power and reliability you''ll ever need, and I can use all my programs and games while still having awesome network and internet capabilities. And the UI is 1000x nicer than Linux ;-) I also like the Win32 API, there''s no doubt that Win32 is the best target platform a developer can have.
I would like to use Linux, but it doesn''t help me to do the things I want to do. It would slow me down and I only see things I can do on Windows that I can''t do on Linux, not the way around.
I personally like the UNIX shell very much, but the UI can kiss my ass ;-)

I meant, by saying ''%2 of the world'' , that %2 of computer USERS use it. I know there are only like 12 million linux users on the planet. And there are a lot more people who own computers.. probably around 300+ million. I''d say max of 3%-4% of computer users either use Linux or have a linux box as a secondary. But this is just a rough estimate.. anyways the point being that not a whole lot of people use linux.. It''s not because the rest of the world are idiots, it''s just that linux users seem to have to undying drive to feel special and elite. And they can use their OS all they want, as they attempt to port everything from windows into their enviroment, then turn around and bitch about how much Microsoft sucks.. etc.. etc.. Linux users always have a list of things that Microsoft has ripped off from people or lied about.. but honestly .. I could care less since their OS has the best UI and is more supported in the industry than anything else.
"If I need to be programming on a stripped down version of linux I have installed on my 15 year old reprogrammed speak and spell to feel elite then I''m proud to be part of the massses, part of the sheep."
Baaa.. Baaa Baaaa..

Tim, many people complains about the UI in linux but I do not really agree. KDE is in many ways a windows clone.
Everybody also agrees that the shell is the best available on any system and that can certainly help you to do the things you want to do.
Hardware support sucks on linux and I think that is the big problem but I guess it will be better.

Don''t use KDE! KDE is evil! It''s big, bloated and sluggish..not to mention windows-like (hehe ). Use Blackbox!
Win2K is so reliable I have to restart my machine every 3-4 days because of memory leaks. *nix usage is around 10%. At the large university I go to all the machines for lib arts people are windows and all the machines for IT people are *nix. Maybe that says something.

You people need to lighten up. Neither of them is really any better. I am one of those Linux users and it is not like I like microsoft a lot. They all have there ups and downs. Those who complain about the *nix UI need to get out some more. If they would get out they would learn that things change and they do improve.
By the way, KDE sucks in comparison to GNOME.

If linux was comparable to Windows, then why does linux have an emulator to run window apps? kina seems like an oxy-moron to me.
