Industry Advice?

Note: I moved this from the beginners form. Hello all! I was wondering if anyone had any advice to get into the industry or could shed some light on my activities. For the past year and a half I've been developing somewhat quality (I assume) 2D demos with horrible stories (you may have played them) to send in for a job. I thought it'd be better to save my best writing for later on. I realize now how stupid that was. Anyway, I didn't think the demos were up to par so I'm still working. Now I'm attempting my true vision in 3D as intended. The problem is, I'm horrible in 3D space. I can model pretty well but that's about it! It's driving me insane! Should I keep at it and aim for my true vision or should I try harder to put it into 2D space? Is doing this even worth my time!!!!? I'm not using any engine for 3D by the way which I hear could take years to develop. If this is true the choice is a no brainer. Any advice would be very appreciated! It kills me how much you can put into something, and how little you get out of it BTW! This is my last attempt and I REALLY don't want to screw it up.
Keep pluggin away man. 3D is the way the industry is going, so I would stick with it. If your struggeling with comprehending 3D space then check out Tricks of The 3D Game Programming Gurus. It's an awesome book. The author breaks it all down for you and explains in depth 3D space, and also goes through the process of programming a 3D pipeline (engine). I highly reccomend it, but you should get it soon, I just bought it on clearance for $30 so it must be going out of print.
