So... where do I start?

Well, the money I am getting is pretty much coming out of nowhere... I am very fortunate to recieve it, but I really don't feel like i'd be wasting it. From what I have read about the keyboard, I am willing to bet that I will still use it 10 years from now! It really does seem that great, so in that respect, I feel it is worth the money. Also, I expect to use most, if not all the rest of my money on schooling, and I am pretty sure having the keyboard at my side while I attend a music school will be very beneficial.

It is my last year of highschool, so I feel very blessed getting this money, as it will help me fulfill my dreams...

It does feel like I am starting my odyssey into music quite late, but when I take the time, and think into the future, I realize that if I don't get into this now, sometime, maybe when I am 23 or so, I will say, "Damn! I wish I bought a keyboard, and learned music theory a long time ago, now it feels like I am way behind..."

So I really do think that this keyboard is worth the money, I know I will be using it for a long time to come.

What, is twenty-three too old for learning music theory these days? Sheesh, posting on these forums makes me feel so ancient [grin].

I totally understand your fear of starting late... I didn't start writing music until the age of 20 (I'm 22 now).

If you're passionate about music, hey, go for it. And yes, creating music is extremely rewarding, 1000x moreso than anything else I've done in my lifetime, so best of luck to you.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to send me some of that money. :D

lol, sorry, I didn't mean it that way...

What I forgot to say is, you are never too old, and it is never too late!

As for the money, I wish everyone had the same opporitunity as me. If I was rich, i'd make sure everyone did!

I know, I just find it amusing that everyone assumes I'm a teenager. I'm not that much older, although it is a bit frightening that I'll be turning thirty this decade (yikes!)

Best of luck with the music composition. I'm having a lot of fun learning it at the moment.
lmao... i hope you won't expect urself to cr8 good stuff for quite a certain time, maybe a few years. It takes many years of experience to write a great song IMO. Me too, i have the same passion with you about game music. I have about 8 years of piano playing experience as well as lots of theory and i've been writing for around 2 years. It is not that simple as it seems but since u got the money, go for it! :).. how i wish i could afford a MOTIF ES... But since u got the eqquipments now, i suggest you hone up ur musical skills.
For seqeuncing, i suggest you use Cakewalk (Erhm.. can find alot on the net) , plz do not use onboard sequencers unless u wana perform on something..
Btw, i suggest you get a private teacher to teach u some keyboard playing as well as chords and stuff. Chords are super important. And make sure you read up on instruments u wana compose too, you'll need to understand how they work!

Good Luck!
