Hi, anybody know if the real Yahoo! Messenger works with slackware? I'm at the yahoo webpage and it only has RedHat and a Debian choices for download. I just upgraded GAIM but I miss the voice chat and web cam of the real Yahoo! Messenger client from my Windows. Should I just try the RH one and use rpmi? I don't want to clutter up my directories -.- Also, is anybody using the real version IM and not GAIM or Kopete or anything? Because when I click on 'features' on yahoo.com it says it has voice chat and webcam but then it directs me to download a *.exe (Windows!). So maybe the linux version doesn't have web camming and voice chat or does it? Thanks.
I believe the Linux version of Yahoo aren't up to snuff. If you want voice you should get this branch of GAIM called...(somebody help me out here). It's really neat and it's free.

Thanks for replying :)

I already gave up on this idea though and am just using regular GAIM I guess. I am worried about people 'rooting' me o.O and I don't trust Yahoo! that much to just install their stuff and then wake up tomorrow or next month and find that somebody in Romania figured out a way to root me via a vulnerability in their chat client :/ I subscribe to various security mailing lists and spent lots of time on IRC to know enough that ...well...maybe I'm just paranoid but still...

I hope it's not too long before voice over IP and web camming is easy and popular in unix too. (and secure) Ya I have a Skype account but *paranoid* o_O
