What downloadable software do people use for creating 3D models? Since I can''t afford 3DStudio etc. I''d appreciate any shareware recommendations..... Thanx.

trueSpace is nice in some ways and so is Rhino or Rhinosores. I think there is a shareware version of the well loved program called Lightwave not sure but I think so.

I''d have to agree with Dr Nick. Milkshape 3D will get you pretty far modeling-wise. Until you start making high-level games or demos, this is an excellent piece of software, as it has texture, material, and bone info as well as the mesh data.

Hi all,

I''ve looked at quite a few of the programs listed here. Do any of you know if these (maybe I missed it in my quick perusal) programs or some other not listed that has the ability to enter coordinates manually (ie. type in the x, y, z, r, whatever values) when you are manipulating/creating faces/shapes/etc? And of course cheap (ie. less than $300 U.S.).

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance,
Bob
Milkshape 3D can do that. And it''s a LOT less than $300. I don''t get how people can charge that much money for a simple (ok, not so simple) piece of software. It''s outragous.
