By the way, can people like me who won't be competing (at least for the first few rounds) still be able to vote in the popularity contest? And is the popularity vote just a simple vote for which one you think is the best, or can we rank them in some sort of IRV voting system?
Can there be no minimum to the introduction? 500 is a little wordy for an intro.

Anyone can vote for their favorite entry, regardless of whether or not they themselves competed. I am still deciding on how voting will work it will depend on the number of entries at present I am planning on using a website with all the entries and poll where people vote for their favorite. I might change this though depending on the numbers of entires.

500 words is next to nothing in terms of writing so I am afraid that the minimum stands.

Well folks, we are into the final 12 hours of the competition so if you haven't finished your submission yet. You had better hurry, as time is rapidly running out. I'm hoping to receive at least double the current number of entries otherwise it won't be much of competition.

[embarrass] God, only a day to go and I haven't even started...
well, at least, I can still compete at the next rounds, right?
Cos I really like character design. Wouldn't want to miss that one.

If you don't require people to be logged-in gamedev members to vote, how can you prevent a person from voting multiple times?

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

Well tripod have poll gear that allows people to vote once per day and leave comments. I was planning on using that. People could still find a way to cheat and vote many times. But it seems like the simplist way to go. The other option is to have people PM me with their rankings of the entries, which might be the better choice as it means a better normalization of the popularity section.

Hmmm.... Maybe for now we will use the pm method. Unless someone wants to build and host a site which display the entries and allow users to rank them.

I may (likely) be too late but at least for future reference... what does this equate to here in the US, specifically, the mountain time zone (-6 GMT)?

BST = GMT, so if you are in GMT -6 timezone then that means 6:01pm. I think mountain time is GMT -7 so I would say 5:01pm
Thanks!

-6 or -7 depending on whether daylight savings is in effect :)
