Been putting in far too much time on my engine lately. Just went out christmas tree hunting with my wife and son, and spent the entire time thinking about how I''d simulate everything I saw. Like "hmm, those trees over there could be done with billboards, but those over there would need meshes" and "I wonder what fog settings I''d use to emulate the haze that''s filtering that mountain over there?" and "I wonder how few triangles I could use to model that truck" and "boy that wall would make a nice texture" ... I''m going nuts I tell you. Toom

I have that problem, and then some. Sometimes, the code of how this real life situation flashes into my mind! Then when it stops, I find I blanked out for 3 seconds, and am on the verge of falling over! Yeah, not cool. Usually when I have been coding for a while and am tired.

Like one time I was at a 2 week all coding all gaming deal, and I went up to a gate, and if(latch == OPEN) flashes up.

Its crazy!

You''re not a Jedi until you start dreaming in code. It first happened for me back in college when I was trying to wrap my feeble brain around Lisp (my mind had kind of calcified around functional programming and I just couldn''t grok the whole recursion thing).

One morning I woke up thinking "okay, I''ve got to cons the car onto the cdr", when what I meant to think was "okay, I''d better get up and get dressed".

I guess there''s a fine line between being focused on your work and having a psychotic break.

it would be legal to take a picture of something in nature for example and use it as a texture. wouldn''t it? I catch myself doing that every now and then too. =)
