That you can't find your card in configure probably means that your copy of SuSE is old. From what I can see the latest SuSE is 9.3. But this doesn't mean that your card isn't supported though, it's just that your card was released after SuSE 9.1 I think. Maybe you should download or buy the latest SuSE instead, or try some other distribution (I don't like SuSE, but that's just me [smile]). If you're willing to try some other distro, I've heard alot of good things about Ubuntu. I haven't tried it, but I've heard that it is very userfriendly and nice. Anyway, I hope you get your card to work. It's quite boring without 3D-acceleration nowadays [smile]

okay now it says I have kernel but still no gcc or make. When i run the installer it says it needs those though. Do you think it is insatlled? I figured the 3D stuff didn't work becasue all 3D games are super chuggy, like 1fps.

it looks like you'll need to update your nvidia driver via yast online update instead of downloading drivers from nvidia site and following instructions I mentioned. Those instructions require the pro version that includes developer tools so you can custom compile drivers for your exact kernel.
It's still possible though to get 3d acceleration via the drivers suse provides via yast online update though like I mentioned above. You might have to update to latest kernel though first through online update then look for nvidia driver in list when you do online update it should be near bottom and select it. Suse will automatically install driver and configure everything so you have 3d acceleration and you don't have to mess with anything. I done it this way before too so I know it works. Oh and another way you'll know you have nvidia hardware accelerated drivers installed is that you'll see an nvidia logo screen popup on screen before your GUI login screen popsup.

I kind of had to combine YaST with the manual download. I had to download the drivers with YaST but configure X manually. Okay, thx, got it.

The thing that might throw you off is that the gui might still say that there is no 3d acceleration even though there is. This bug has been around for a while now so to really make sure you got 3d accelration try running tux racer or some other 3d program and see how it runs.

I tried running tux racer but a message pops up saying that no 3d hardware found.

Is there perhaps another way to test if you have 3d acelleration enabled?
Is there a fix for the bug?
Wait, wait, wait.

You mean you find it hard to install the nVidia Linux drivers? The ones you can install with a single command? The "no hassle" drivers?

???

Try ATi, you will then love nVidia's Linux drivers for sure. [wink]

On a serious note, I never had any problems installing them on a Slackware machine.
