posting a PDF of a completed game design

Well, honestly yes, The cliche was consciously intended. As the design is intended to focus on game play and mechanics. The final intent was to expand on the story and characters after the game mechanics were planned out.

That way mechanics would dictate story and progression rather than the other way around. In the past I've seen the story dictate the mechanics. The result is a combination of mis matching mechanics that make sense in context of the single player game, but not as well in a multiplayer environment.

So yes, the characters and story only have all of a few pages pretty much as place holders. I'm also not much of a novelist, or a story writer, so I didnt want to write myself into a hole because of it. Im just going with "focus on what you do well" and thats that.

Mind you, you bring up some cool points on _where_ to expand the characters so I'll keep that in mind once that needs to be expanded apon, so thanks!

I've only quickly skimmed the document, and aside from some numbering and spelling mistakes, it looks good.

However, the first thing that crept into my mind with using the lower screen was a problem encountered with Metroid Prime for the DS. In that game, the movement controls were set dead centre on the lower screen. While it looked nice, there were problems with looking and moving to the left due as fingers found a difficult time reaching the left side of the screen. I imagine this would be especially difficult if there were children playing it. It was suggested that the whole movement control be moved farther to the right so that a finger might be able to reach the entire circle.

I was wondering if your template was also going to be dead centre in the lower screen. If so, I imagine the nodes on the left side will be hard to reach.

I do plan on reading more of your document later.

oh, yes I keep promising a revision, and it's still in progress so I'll be posting a link when I'm done with the update (sans all the spelling errors)

Ive often thought of getting players to buy one of those Nintendo Power Glove thingies...(they have a new version by someone else) ...and get them to draw the shape of the spell rune.
