In a MMOG, hacking is WAY worse than piracy.

What's worse:

That my 10 USD client software is getting pirated thus bringing more people into my subscription stream...

...or...

...that a single hacker can unbalance my whole game world thus taking people out of my subscription stream and discouraging new people to come into that stream as word of the Hack spreads?

I agree with this very much. When hacking (read "cheating") becomes more prominent, the incentive for legitimate players to maintain paid subscriptions will diminish considerably. And of course, as fastlane69 stated, new players will also be steered away.
