Speed problems.... arg..
I''m doing a fractal terrain... I generate a 64 by 64 grid..
I''m using a display list and LINE LOOPS
I have 128 Line Loops in the display list. .
Though everything still moves really jerky and slow like..
I have NO lighting enabled either..
What other options can I dull down or turn off?
I know it''s an ATI graphics card, but it is 32mb ram and I do have 128 mb sdram on a 600mhz Athlon..
Thanks
..You could decrease the number of depth bits down from 32, though i dont recommend it as undesirable effects occur... Good speed up though.

You should time (profile) your program. Try another similiar program so you know what to expect. It is some traps with 3d cards one has to avoid.
Just so you know....
I have a 32Mb ATI card in my work machine running WinNT... Its hardware is a dual processor (dual 500Mhz PIII) with 256Mb RAM (why did they build me such a screwey machine at work? LOL), and when I run any of my openGL apps, they ALL run with mega-crappy (less than 10FPS) performance. The problem is ATI, I''m afraid. I don''t care what anyone tries to tell me about those cards, I avoid them like the plague; they simply cannot handle high-speed oGL rendering. You''re more likely to get awesome performance from a TNT2 than you are to get great performance with any ATI cards (excluding the Radeon, but that thing is a p.o.s. too, IMHO, and I''m not going to touch it as ATI is infamous for having the absolute worst drivers on the market next to S3).
Try going with an nVidia-based card if you can spare the money, and I gaurantee that your performance will improve automatically on a scale you''ll have to see to believe.
Just my two cents...
