hi, this might be a stupid question but...if I was about to sign a NDA contract with a gaming company...I'm just wondering...is there a way to be 'protected' from false accuses of leaking information/code? As in not having to pay lots of cash if something leaked and me not being actually responsible but blamed?

No. That's just a problem with the legal system, at least here in America. Anyone is free to blame anybody else for anything. Courts decide if you are responsible.

An NDA is a contract like any other contract. You and they abide by the terms. Take it as a signal to be careful with the information and source code you have been given. If information was leaked, the other party will have to prove the damage the leak has done and that the source of the leak source cannot be anybody else but you.
You mainly damage by using the other party's technology to your own profit. The Uniform Trade Secrets Act (http://nsi.org/Library/Espionage/usta.htm) is clear on this case.
