Scrolling Shooter reversed
Hey all, I just got hit with an idea and I would like your opinion on it. You have all played some sort of scrolling shooter game. You are a ship killing a lot of bad guys and getting powerups. But what if you were the one controlling all the little ships coming down from the top of the screen? It would have to be a 2 player game, one person the ship and one person controlling the enemys. You would choose when/what to send down where and the paths and stuff and when to send down bosses. and in the menu screen there could be an option to make custom little bad guys and bosses and stuff. Do you think that would make a fun game? has it already been done before? Sorry, I don't put words together very well...
Sounds like a good type of game.
could work it similar to the ideas used in "tower wars" maps for warcraft 3.
since in those you send the types of units and that gets you more money to build
other units. And the kills the other player gets lets them build better towers.
The key part would be the balance of the unit creation to the types of weapons
that can be bought/picked up for the single ship to use. Otherwise swarm tatics
could become a real problem for the single ship.
Being able to pick the "paths" would probably be hindering to the other player.
But picking tatics for the path and picking from a set of predone spawn locations would
be easy and fun.

would be a good laugh.
Console game, as many players as you can muster.

The Hunt for Red October on gameboy had a secondary mode where you controlled the enemy ships and tried to destroy the Red October. You'd control one until it got blasted, then switch to another and control that. it was fun.
I always enjoyed controlling the ducks in Duck Hunt, and trying to keep my friend from shooting them. If your game is anywhere near that entertaining, I'd be all for it.
