High-school project: Interview with a professional game designer
Im a highschool student and i have to do a project on my dream job, which is a game designer. Ive tried for 3 days searching and searching for a way to reach a professional game designer, and i think this is it. So if a professional game designer could please please please have an interview with me, all im asking is simple ?s such as: wat are the hardest parts of your job, wat is your typical day like, etc. If you could please send me an email or im me, and take about ten minutes out of your day to help me, it would be greatly appreciated. See if you can get ahold of the book Swords & Circuitry: A Designer's Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games by Neal Hallford, Jana Hallford.
It has about 90 pages of interviews with the designers of titles like Dungeon Siege, Neverwinter Nights, Ulitma Online, The Might and Magic games, and more. And will answer all your questions.
On a side note, the rest of the book is also interesting reading for game design (it's specifically for RPG's, but most of the advice is applicable to any genre). A bunch of it is common sense stuff, then again it never ceases to amaze me how little common sense most of us have.
