I am interested in learning a little about the experiences of game writers, and how they got to where they are. I have some fully developed concept for a truly epic game. The story was originally designed as a 26 episode anime series, but considering the fact that I don't speak Japanese and that the U.S. market won't pay for production - imports are cheaper - I haven't been able to get people interested, although the response has been favorable. It's only a financial thing. So, anyways, because of the unique aspects of the story's elements, a pretty unique premise, and some great characters, one helluva game could be made. I envision something completely new. So - how did you all get hooked up with the people to help make your stories come to life? Thats it - thank you much for your time, and expect to be seeing my tag here and there. J. Jacob Weston
can you find some people to do some comic illustrations (rough sketches) for free? it will turn it into a manga, but a good step.

I completely agree with Aplha_ProgDes - If you have a story originally intended for an anime, and no experience in game development, you will get more accomplished faster by hooking up with an artist and making manga, which there is a market for here in the US if you have a good story. Do you realize 90% of indie game design projects never get finished? A manga project is much lower tech and requires a much smaller staff, and thus is much more likely to succeed. Not to mention that you'd be avoiding the difficulties of going from a non-interactive medium to an interactive one.

For an artist, try megatokyo.com or deviantart.com, or the forums at your favorite manga publishing company's website.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

Plus, completing the comicbook will make your gaming project more attractive, as it will demonstrate a fully-realized idea and execution.
26 episodes... hmmmm... Cowboy Bebop? Samurai Champloo?
I'm probably being naive, there must many other 26 episode anime series. =)
Check out Max Payne. They don't do cutscenes - just comic book frames - with sound and narration. It's so cool.

Thats because it is pretty much the standard season size.
Turring Machines are better than C++ any day ^_~
I love the advice about manga. It had occured to me in the past, and you know, it may just be the exposure/pitch I have been looking for. So, which of you is the artist? :-/
