I cheated and based it off of a real sword, and it still took me about three hours. Here is the result: Here is the original sword. It's 400 tris because of the complex handle. What do you think?
I used Max, but I didn't use any modifiers except mesh editing. Just vertex and poly building. I actually didn't even start with primitives. I imported the shape of the sword as a background picture and dotted some vertices around the shape, then moved them around and glued em together.
Thanks [smile] And yes, it is a problem. Swords are so simple. They don't have ears and noses and eyes and fingers. I seem to have a lot more fun making solid objects, haha.
