Lizard Skin Texture
Hi all I am trying to model a lizard in Max but I cannot seem to get the texture (mainly bump map) right because I am fairly crap at textures. It's supposed to look kind of triangly. I also tried displace map but that didn't work very well. Please can you give me opinions/critisisms about the lizard. Thanks.

I'm not a texturist myself, but I think that the triangle look can be achieved by simply texturing the model (without bump maps) with PSP or Photoshop (or Gimp ^^). Try setting the scales (that's what you meant, right?) to different opacities, trying to achieve a good look. It doesn't hurt if you use a picture reference, either.
Like... This. Crocodile 1
Or this Crocodile 2
If you want the actual triangles to come further out (It can not be done with a bump map, methinks), you'll have to extrude them.

Eye Candy 5 Textures would work great for what you are after:
