Enabling vertical sync

Does anyone how to enable Vertical Sync globally under linux? All my screensavers run too fast and they look all jaggy and teared up. For the record, I'm running KDE 3.3, Kernel 2.6.10, MEPIS, my X driver is "radeon" Thanks
