Which is better MSVC++ Professional Edition or the Enterprise Edition? Open mouth, insert foot
The Enterprise edition, that''s why it costs twice as much.
But then again depends on how you define ''better''. Most of the stuff is database related, so if you don''t use that then it''s no good to you.

I just use the standard edition... works fine, the other two editions are like corperate editions for highly advanced people that need loads of extra stuff but I don''t know what the extras are.... price is also a huge factor!

Does the standard edition have any limitations? (I''ve heard something about it''s illegal to distribute exe''s??)

I don''t really know!! but I assume there is when it comes to commercial distribution I haven''t really thought about that...

Does anyone ever read all that juck when you install it about whats can and can''t be done!!!

Sorry Im not to sure is it a commercial release or freeware/shareware thing you wanna distribute?

There were severe restrictions on distributing programs made with Visual C++ 5 Learning Edition, but those restrictions were lifted in version 6. Visual C++ 6 Standard Edition do however have another significant limitation: it does not optimize code!

I have the introductery edition 6.0 and every time I run one of my programs I get a "Cannot be distributed" message does this go away in the standard edition if not, when do they go away.

(The reson I was asking was cuz on ebay they have Professional for $250 and Enterpirse for $150 and I thought Enterprise was better but this made my confidence waver)

I assume you got the introduction version with a book or something? I have both Intro and standard edition but have only ever used standard! I suppose that msg will never go because its an introduction version.... Are you sure about Pro and Enterprise editions being that cheap? I thought they costed will in the hundreds!!

Ok...I''ve been here.

With MSVC++ Introductory Edition you get a message to the effect that you cannot distribute the exe.

When you get MSVC++ Standard Edition this message goes away.

I guess that this means you can distribute it.

Hope that helps.
