does anyone know of a free 3d graphics library i can use for solaris x86? openGL is not lised at the SUN website, anyone know what i can use, and where to download it?
OpenGL should exist on Solaris; Check out NeHe's tutorials to get you started on solaris: http://nehe.gamedev.net/data/lessons/lesson.asp?lesson=Solaris

For hardware accelerated opengl you will need a graphic card that support it and drivers. I never tryed Solaris at home, we are using at school though, and on some old sparc II computers there is opengl. I guess you have some graphic card from sun in your comp, otherwise it could be difficult with accelerated drivers - I haven't seen any solaris drivers on nvida's or ati page in case you are using some ordinary graphic card. In case you don't have drivers you can use Mesa which is software implementation of opengl: http://www.mesa3d.org/ .

Sun is working on an OpenGL package for x86 Solaris, but in the meantime:
