Hello, I have a question, the 3rd and 4th CDs for the slackware distro, what exactly are they for??? Do they containg the sources for all packages in CDs 1 and 2??? If I ever need to recompile the kernel (the reason doesnt matter, this topic isnt about that), will I need this source CDs or the needed whatever stuff to recompile it is bundled into the 1st and 2nd CDs (Installation ones) thanks a lot
i just started with slackware (and linux...but don't tell anyone) but from what i gather, the kernel sources are installed with the first two cds (you really need them) as you may have briefly noticed during the installation.

the last two cds contain the sources for all the other packages outside the kernel installed with slackware, along with less necessary but still desirable packages like bittornado, the java sdk (as opposed to the jre already installed), k3d etc, that you can then voluntarily install (easier than downloading the source and make-ing yourself).

it is annoying though that they don't really tell you that you can burn the first two, install slackware, and then mount the iso's from within linux for the second two.

hope that helps.
