Both races evolved from humanity after some sort of calamity destroyed most everything. They evolved at the same time, in different places. One 'race' found magic to be the best way to do things, and another 'race' found technology to be the best.

I should point out that it still takes *work* to make magic. As far as the mechanics of it... I'm not entirely sure. I remember this being discussed, but for the life of me can't recall anything useful. I'm honestly not sure we need to know in detail anyways.

And none of the races are the result of experimentation. Parts of their appearance may be, but not the races themselves. The Spirituals don't *need* to do anything, but they choose to have kids, and choose to make them aesthetically pleasing and interesting.

"Magical" and "Techno" are placeholder names. If you have any suggestions that would better fit them, we would love to hear!!

I realize you didn't read through the design doc (well, certainly not the massive thread! And I don't suggest it, necessarily), so this might help a little.

As a matter of fact, I DID read through the design doc, but stopped short when I found some things were lacking, and jumped on my keyboard to let you know. When I came back to the design doc, I found the answers (well, a part of them anyway) in the following paragraphs, and felt rather dumb. I honestly think I would have deleted my post, have I been able to log in, but the webmaster at GameDev seems not to read his mail very often, so I still haven't got any answer from him. When I do, and am able to log in, I will make sure most of my posts are correctly typed, signed and related to what is going on in the thread, I swear!
By the time, i can make anything I want, spit in the soup, steal grannies' handbags, tie cans to dogtails and still get away with it, because I am ALREADY thrown out!!!! dammit!
