ps2 and xbox
Greetings all
I wanted to ask if anyone had experience in dealing with sony or microsoft to gain approval to market their title under their playstation/xbox platforms.
I was wondering
a) certified bug hours testing logs
b) where i can contact them
c) find out a detailed listing of criteria
You go through your publisher,i.e. you create your game, get a publisher to sign it up and your publisher submits for approval to Microsoft and Sony.
Once you have approval, you can purchase the dev. kits etc. and start working on the schedule the publisher provided to Microsoft/Sony during approval.

I applied to MS a while back to get kits without a publisher - they want the names of your lead devs, as well as previous titles that the leads have worked on (any platform). If you don't have a publisher, you need to have experienced people in your lead roles or they won't consider you worth the risk.

It's really the other way around. As a new developer, you usually get around 10% of the publisher's cut as a royalty. Known developers can get 20-30% on average. That's developers who have made previous known games.
Small/Budget publishers will give you more (20-30%) but their sales are lower (a lot lower in most cases) as well.
Console games will typically give you a lower percentage because publishers need to pay part to the console makers (Microsoft/Sony).

I talk with them fairly regularly. They only appear to be evil ogres. In fact they are quite nice - If they think you are a serious business.
a) Sorry, don't understand what you are asking
b) at www.google.com "xbox developer support" and "Playstation developer support"
Oh ok then for the lazy out there... http://www.xbox.com/en-us/dev/default.htm and http://scea.sony.com/2b_ldev.php
c) Their web site/application forms will provide details of the type of company you need to be to get approval (basically a financially stable company that knows what it is doing). Publishing games on console is a very expensive business and they expect you to have the money to do the job right.
