I have recorded a normal human voice. I want it to sound like the human was in a open battlefield with some distance away from the listener. I have SonicFoundry Sound Forge 6.0 accessable, I heard it's one of the best tool for sound making. Which effects / other tunnings would be appropriate to achieve a "distanced battlefield scream effect" ? As I'm not a sound effects designer, I don't really know what to change. I'm not sure what frequencies I should alter. Volume reducing and fallowing EQ settings could be correct ? (I'd like to post a screenshot of the EQ, but can't find a way! ?) (Lowered 40 - 80 Hz gradually down to -11 DB change, 80 - 450 Hz gradually restored to 0 DB change, and finally lowered 640 - 20000 Hz gradually down to -6 DB change)
Generally, for added distance, add reverb in increasing amounts, and band-pass the result. For your particular scenario I would recommend a 2 second reverb at a mix level that sounds good (10%-40%). For the EQ, reduce frequencies below 150Hz by about 3dB, and frequencies above 12kHz by 5dB. I don't have access to equipment to test these right now, but have a play with settings around those, adjusting as necessary.
