when you click on "how to draw with GL_QUADS"- you come to a site, like in this forumpost.. with the text i written above.

means:

A TOPIC:

1.)a short explanation
(like the one above)
2.)perhaps an exe with source, to download (you could use the zip from nehe, in this case, as an example)
3.) links to "more infos", means, sites with big, full written tutorials, mailto:links from the poster and so
4.) answers from others (like replies). with this answers, you could complete the infos, the one who posted above had forgotten (what a stupid sentence, hope you understand it

BUT: It shouldnt be a big site, first. It should be like a dixionary, where you quickly search something and get a quick answer(and, because its the internet, links to more detailed answers, when they exists)

I think, i would create two parts. One is made by me (and some other staff members), wich is very structured and always right (but slow, because we have to write it all)
the other one is where everyone could post everything he knows about everything bout programming(like a forum, but in index-form)

we wanna play, not watch the pictures

If that's not the help you're after then you're going to have to explain the problem better than what you have. - joanusdmentia

on one site, there could everyone post his stuff he knows, so that this could be big and fat, but it c(/w)ould be chaotic, and sometimes there could be things that are wrong and so..

on the other site, there is the same, but there could only post high staffmembers, like me(), NeHe, for example (starguest)and the others, wich are looking for the site. They (we) would write then a second index, wich is completely perfect organized and tested on div. systems and so. Means, when you search something there, and you would find it, you get surely the info you want, and its surely correct

smokes:

tnx alot for the etc..

hm, i wrote usw, and me, I''m no german, too
(swiss one)
i dont think its really a big thing to understand usw, when you come from denmark, but thanks alot for the etc, i forgot it somehow

we wanna play, not watch the pictures

wow this is getting realtime

wouldnt it be easier if we had just one index but monitored new posts for correctness? that way a user could find everyting in one place?
yep, there is a newestone (logical)
and, when the user is searching something, he would get answers from both. its just to split the two (everyone/controled one), we create two ones (user gets information like this)

QUADS:

you found 3 results:

there is a topic found in the ""controled one"" index:
--link-- written by davepermen / date

there are two ones found at the ""everyone"" index:
--link-- written by ¦anonymous¦ / date
--link-- written by IM_A_FreaAKY_meaN / date

and you could choose then (btw, normaly you click on one from ""controled one"", because there you could be sure it''s working, its correct and its tested, the other one could be posted, but its wrong anyways)

we wanna play, not watch the pictures

Maybe mail opengl.org and gamedev (and of course NeHe, the best of all) asking them to announce the plan. The more publicity it gets the more people will contribute.

Still think a rating system on the public (not moderated yet)posts would be cool. If every one who reads a post gives it a rating on how helpfull it was to them then it would save a lot of time for the moderators, and provide a way to gauge general opinion on stuff where theres no ''ULTIMATE CORRECT'' way to do things.

Check out www.slashdot.org for an example of how this type of rating thing works.

I think the moderators votes count sligfhtly higher than everyone else, so after a post is moderated its very hard for someone to pump up their own posts rating if those in the know have checked it and marked it as crap.
Maybe this too would work?
