Photoshop 7 annoyance.

Hi. This is a recent problem, and I haven't got the slightest idea what triggered it. Unfortunately, my copy of PS7 is crippled by this thing and I can't do anything with it after a certain point. Most of my work comes up fine while I'm working with it, until I try to add an anistropic diffusion to a particular section(I prefer it to blurring or smart blurring). Then I receive sort of a catch-all error message: "Could not complete command due to program error". After that point, pretty much every action I take(including other filters and saving to disk) results in this error. PS basically works perfectly until this error pops up, and then nothing. I've tried doing other memory- or harddrive-intensive commands, but this is the only way I can reproduce this error. My web search tells me that my problem is unique, although there are solutions for unrelated problems that cause this same error message. Most(including Adobe's site) suggest updating my video drivers(which they have been for a year), reinstalling the software(no luck) or checking conflicting/damaged hardware(which isn't apparent). A bit of history, just in case this may have something to do with it: about a week ago, I had a futile attempt to switch to a 17" monitor. It was too blurry, so I changed back to my 15". The next day, I was having problems with the video. The screen would reset(like it does when you change the resolution) whenever I would so much as click on the Start Menu. After many cold reboots, the problem went away. I'm running WinXP if that helps. Thanks for any help you guys have...

I think I've experienced this error long time ago at the office (I don't remember what caused it), with version 6 I think.

did you upgraded your video drivers?
You could try replacing the videocard (if you have some at hand) maybe the one you're using is broken someway. I don't remember if Photoshop has an option for hardware acceleration, if it does, do you have it turned on?

The only hardware option is for the alpha channel-- off or on, it still happens.

Hey,

Got coupel of suggestions. Have you tried doing the same thing on a completely different file?

Also it might be worth reinstalling photoshop, or tring to do the same thing on your different machines with your files.
