can't mount cd in mandrake
well.. for some damn reason my mandrake 10 has sucked again.. (this is like the 3rd time ) without giving the slighest of warning. It worked beautifully the other night and today i just plugged-out one of my hard-disks.. and there it goes (BOOM!) once again :S. The X-Server just wouldn't start... and you only have the console to work with. Normally reinstalling the Graphics Driver would solve the problem but this time itz not working. So the last resort is to try to "upgrade" my mandrake from the CDs. But the damn installer can't mount my cdrom (Creative 48X). I first thought itz the problem with the installer but it isn't, my Mandrake ( whatever it is running; only the console ) can't mount the CD ROM either :S. Btw, my CDROM is working perfectly and my RED-HAT ( fedora core 1 ) installer confirms that ! Now u must be thinking that the Mandrake CDS might be corrupted but i can assure u they aren't cuz Mandrake simple can't mount any CD under this Creative CD-ROM Drive.
NOW WHAT DO I DO ?

What exactly do you mean by this?
plugged out one of my hard-disk = i have two hard-disks.. and i unplugged the slave hard-disk

And you are absolutely sure that there wasn't some important data Linux needs on that harddisk? Maybe your home directory, or some other mountet dir?
