What do I need ???
I have "MS VC++6" and a OpenGL compatible grafikcard.
What do I need for:
1.)Windows98 ?
2.)Linux(SUSE 7.0) ?
Is a OpenGL programm faster under the OS Linux ???
Does Linux has something like "DirectX" ???
Is the Duron Prozessor realy a good choice to run 3D-games and programming 3D-OperGL???
Thank you !

for win98 you need msvc++6, thats all, it has all the files that you need
now you can begin reading the tuts of nehe Nehe Tutorials
start with windows programming, then you could easy use the originaltutorials
dont think opengl is faster under linux, because normaly the drivers for windows are bether
no linux hasn''t dx, and i dont know how far they have something (they dont have something, that is as good in hardware, but you can access drawing, keyboard mouse and all without..)
duron.. dont know
we wanna play, not watch the pictures

If that's not the help you're after then you're going to have to explain the problem better than what you have. - joanusdmentia

MS VC++ is only usefull under Windows.
U can download GNU C compiler for Linux, although I think they are best compiler for it available.
The fastest OpenGL public implementation is under BeOS.

Linux OpenGL is slower or as fast as Windows.
Linux does have several libraries that are doing things like DirectX (which is copying the PSX library).
The most interesting to me is SDL. http://www.libsdl.org
The Duron are really nice processors, you''ll have no problem using it for 3D.
-* So many things to do, so little time to spend. *-

if youre going for linux get a nvidia card there drivers speed are very nearly as quick as with windows, with other cards theres quite a big performance drop.
i wouldnt get win98 if u want windows go for win2000 (win98''s not good for programming to many crashes)
duron is a very good choice for 3d graphics certainly better than what i have (celeron)
