car acceleration
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone here knows how they make the sound effects for a car while accelerating ?
I'm not talking about the sound itself, i'm talking about the programming side of things, like i have the sound of a engine running, when i start accelerating i could increase the volume of the sound to have the desired result, but doesn't sound that good.
I was told that this is made by changing the pitch of the sample in real-time, which i also did, but also doens't sound very good.
Any ideias on how they make this ?
thanks,
Bruno

It's done using pitching. The pitch shouldn't go too high, otherwise it will sound bad.
But I think you should have separate wave files for different gears. You use one wave for gear 1, and when you change to gear 2 you change the wave also to another. This way the pitch won't go too high.
