Mostly use hardware:
Guitar
Roland Juno 1
Yamaha DX-27
Alesis QS6.1
E-mu ESI-2000
Yamaha RM1x (also my sequencer)
using a Mackie mixer, and my main effects from a Boss VF-1 (also use guitar amp simulation on it to handle guitar).

Software wise:
Cool Edit Pro
ReCycle
ReBirth
Reaktor
WaveLab
Acid
Cakewalk Pro Audio (hoping to replace this with the Pro Tools FREE software that you can download tomorrow, as I only use this for audio).

O, and I''m looking to add both a Nord Lead 2 and a Roland JP-8000 to my kit list by the end of the year (I can only hope...).
On the computer:

Logic Composer (came with my Audiowerks card)
VSampler 1.5
VAZ+ 1.7
Hacked-up soundfonts on SB Live
Fatar keyboard controller

Off the computer:

Fender Roland-ready Strat
Carvin six-string (I forget what model)
Yamaha bass
Zoom bass effects pedal
Danelectro fab tone
Danelectro daddy-o
Digitech whammy pedal

..all feeding into a Fostex rackmount mixer and run
through a BBE 462 Maximizer and a Aphex Aural Exciter,
then into the AudioWerks card.

What fun! What, fun?

...If youre taking about midi...

Nowadays people are using fast ways to make music, like "evolution midi". I prefer taking it easy and to make good music so I use the free "Anvil Studio" which of isn''t the test winner in any way but it''s easy to use, clear...

I hope you''ll find your favorite music compiler, Atte
I use Microsoft DirectMusic Producer, it''s free and comes with DX7 SDK
i use what i consider one of the best music proggies out there..
Fruityloops for song compilation.

other programs include:
Midisoft Studio
Cool Edit Pro
and Sound Forge.

No More Clones!
Stop The Madness!
midi-Cakewalk Pro Audio 9

Yeah. DirectMusic is really cool. It sounds the same on all computers and you can do cool stuff with it, like making the music play differently based on player input.
-Forcaswriteln("Does this actually work?");
I use what i think is the best music composer around, Fruity Loops... it''s one of the most fun programs ive ever come across
I''m quite surprised that I''ve seen so little trackers in the replies given. I saw Fasttracker 2/3 somewhere. FT3? HAHA, Dream on dude! FT3 works as great as a smushed ant! I look forward to what it might someday become though.
Hey, are ppl too ashamed to say they use tracker software?
I still use fasttracker II but am venturing into Buzz-tracker as well as Propllerheads Reason as well.

I use:
Soundforge for post-editing
Cooledit sometimes for sample-sequencing
T-Racks for final compression

And Fasttracker is GREAT for composing soundfx!
