I was making the opengl tuts at NeHe and if you hit the esc which is supposed to close the prog it instead closes your entire system down. I even deleted the lines that handled it and it still does it. it restarts my whole PC if I hit esc in full mode.

wierd. i never got that with any of the tuts. do you have the latest drivers from nvidia/ati? i'd blame your video card drivers. try updating them and see if that fixes it.

I just bought my Radeon 9200 a couple months ago so I dont think the drivers would be outdated already. Ill check though.

This just can't have anything to do with the NeHe tutorials. They never do anything nasty. Plus, with the *huge* amount of people that tried them, such errors would have been corrected.

I would say its probably one of those two possibilities:

1) You are performing an illegal operation, due to a coding error, and your OS is crashing (and restarting, happens often). You can troubleshoot this by creating a minimal project and progressively adding and testing code until the bug presents itself.

2) There is a bug in your system. It could very possibly be your videocard drivers, as suggested by the above poster. When videocards hit the store, the drivers on the CD are usually already outdated, and in a couple months time, more than one driver version can be released (at least with nvidia).

Either way, good luck finding the error!
