Unless I'm reading it wrong, the US civil rights act of 1964 says that you don't need to put citizen/visa status on your resumé. A US employer isn't even allowed to ask. Don't put it in.quote]

is this true? if so thats great, thanks :)

thanks every 1 for the feedback, will update as soon as i get back in teh UK on my comp (in the US atm)

Yes, there's actually a great number of things employers cannot ask. A quick google search reveals:

- Age
- Race
- Religion
- Marital Status
- Parental/Pregnancy Status
- National Origin/Residency [But employers can ask about how long you're legally employable in the US]
- Maiden Name
- Disabilities [though the employer can describe job functions and ask if you've disabilities that would prevent you from doing them]
- Health or Medical History
- If you've ever filed for Worker's Comp
- Political Affiliation if Public Sector interview.
- Credit History
- Child Care Arrangements if you're Female.
- Arrest Record [unless applying to a law enforcement position. Employers can ask about actual convictions though]

well, the 36 year-old will have some 19 years more job experience so that'll probably come into play... :)

Hey, you mean that I shouldn`t post age in my resume ? That`s pretty stupid, isn`t it ? The employer should have the right to know how old is the person he`s going to employ/interview, shouldn`t he ? True, it smells with age discrimination, but hey that`s planet Earth, not Pluto !

Use dot points!!! Which of the following is easier to extract information from?

Duties
* Object and unit placement in levels
* Change documentation
* Communicating level-related issues with artist/designer/scripter
* Additional level content, tweaking, object properties
* Discussion of general design issues

I was responsible for ‘object and unit placement’ for the levels; documentation of any changes needed to be made was also included in this, as well as talking level related issues over with the corresponding artist/designer/scripter. Also updating the levels after reviews with additional content, tweaking and adding stat data to the corresponding items and props, and working with the rest of the designers to overcome all design related problems that the game faced.

"Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.".....V

I'd agree with a bulletted list format wherever possible. I had a section on programming-specific skills and another on more general qualities I thought useful.

I would have your DOB on there, was always told to by uni careers dept. And my CV apparently is quite good - I can try to find you a copy if you email me at john.dexter@fsmail.net?

Otherwise, you didn't say 8 A-C GCSEs assuming that's what they are. Should be obvious but better to make it clear.
If you're going to put DOB in there, at least leave it out if applying to a U.S. job. It's how many years experience you have in the field- not your age- that's really important.
