Newbie Isometric Graphics Question
I have searched everywhere for this information. I am trying to find out where to begin isometric graphics like the ones in Age of Empires, Kings, etc. I do not want to make mods. I do have mod editing software and use it to view the graphics for my own ideas.
What I am trying to find out is how to make them to begin with.
For example, take the barracks. I have a drawing. Now what program do I use to draw it? How do I "shrink" it down for use in the game?
THANK YOU.
Here is a sort of older tutorial from the days of Freecraft. It uses Blender to rough-out the general shape of the building, and final drawing is done with the Gimp. You can adapt the technique to suit your own needs.
For what it's worth, I would personally go with a more detailed Blender model--high polygons, lots of detail, and only do minor touch-ups in the Gimp. That way, I could get more realistic shading, and I wouldn't botch things as badly as I would trying to do detail work freehand.
