i am using Mandrake 10. I added a line in /etc/profile to export a path to my java directory. This works pretty well.. when log on as a normal user.. but the path doesn't get exported when i log on as root. Does root use something other file other than profile.. ? Another question.. when i load an executable in kdbg... it immediately terminates with an error message with says something about a shared file, maybe "libthread_db.so" ( i dont remember the exact name though ). What is causing it ?

root's own .profile might be overriding it. (root gets /sbin added to path someplace, and might just reset the whole thing for "security reasons")
