Dave - two things...
Even though the other guys who replied to your post before a2k may have sounded degrading and insulting, the main point they tried to get across to you was that you shouldn''t try to learn an api (like OpenGL) without knowing the language you are coding in. This is for two reasons, one, you''ll ask questions like the one you did, and, two, it''s incredibly hard to learn an api when learning the language to go behind it. It''s like saying "I want to write a story that uses french humour (since languages DO have different senses of humour. ) AND I want to write the story in French as well. But I don''t know french, or their humour." It just doesn''t make any sense to do it that way, it''s more logical to learn the language then branch off from there, otherwise, what''s the point of learning opengl if you don''t even know how to execute a simple do{}while(); loop?
Secondly, you should have posted your thanks in your first thread instead of starting a new topic. Most likely people will read other topics that they post on again to check to see if that person understood or needed more help, etc.

oh, and by the way, i would have actually responded almost like those other guys, but as a programmer, my mood is based on accomplishment. i just figured out how to use direct sound 3d in my game, so i''m really happy
