From memory, in order to run giFT, you must first run the giFT-setup (or something like that). This will ask you a bunch of questions about what ports you want to use etc.

Otherwise, have a look and see whats in the directory /usr/lib/giFT. You may need to rerun giFT-setup and select a different protocol(s)
